Senior Accounts Executive 

Introduction

Our client, a growing engineering and construction company in Malaysia, is seeking a hands-on and reliable Account & Admin Executive to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of finance operations while supporting overall business administration in a dynamic environment.

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Executive to manage full set of accounts, ensure financial accuracy, and support administrative and procurement functions. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial control, supporting project costing, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Manage and maintain full set of accounts including general ledger, AR, AP, bank reconciliation, P&L, and balance sheet

  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation

  • Handle budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, tax filings, and financial regulations (including SST)

  • Prepare journal entries and audit-related adjustments


Billing, Payments & Cash Flow

  • Issue sales invoices and follow up on collections with clients and internal stakeholders

  • Process payments including suppliers, progress claims, staff claims, and operational expenses

  • Monitor cash flow and ensure timely financial transactions


Project Costing & Procurement

  • Monitor and track project costing and financial performance

  • Manage procurement activities including purchase order (PO) issuance and supplier coordination

  • Maintain proper financial and procurement records


Administrative & Operational Support

  • Maintain proper accounting records and filing systems

  • Support general administrative coordination related to finance and operations

  • Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field

  • Professional certification (ACCA / CIMA / MIA) is an added advantage

  • Minimum 6–7 years of relevant experience, preferably in the contracting or construction industry

  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, systems, and internal controls

  • Proficient in SQL Accounting System (minimum 4–5 years’ experience)

  • Knowledge of UBS Accounting System is an advantage

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Knowledge of tax and SST requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Mature, self-motivated, and able to work independently

  • Good interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills

  • Able to supervise and guide admin and finance team

  • High level of integrity, responsibility, and results-oriented mindset

  • Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
